Choosing the Best Treatment

The comprehensive treatment approach which is customized to each patient’s needs and goals may include, but are not limited to, a combination of the following treatments:

  • Custom splint fabrication of static, dynamic and static-progressive splints. Fitting check and training for the correct way to wear the prefabricated splints that you get from local drug stores.

  • Serial casting

  • Taping techniques : Kinesio taping and Leuko taping.

  • Neuromuscular re-education, mirror therapy, sensory retraining and desensitization techniques.

  • Manual therapy including DNM, soft tissue and joint mobilization, nerve flossing, myofascial releases.

  • Therapeutic exercises, upper body strengthening, re-balancing and conditioning exercises.

  • Scar management.

  • Edema management.

  • Post-surgical wound care.

  • Education in joint protection and activity modification, correction of joint imbalances, and prevention of joint deformities.

  • Pain management

  • Education in posture and ergonomics, recommendations for modifying the workstation, work tools and work habits

  • Work site evaluation.

  • Recommendations for assistive or adaptive devices. I’ll problem solve with you the daily tasks that are difficult or painful to do because of your condition; and recommend modified ways/equipment to improve your functional independence.
